Being an archipelagic nation, conducting a nationwide event in Indonesia has its own set of challenges. Other than the physical distance, the economic disparity and wildly different quality of transportation limits access to those in less developed areas of Indonesia, such as in Eastern Indonesia. The wave of COVID-19 pandemic only exacerbated this issue. PSI, one of the political parties in Indonesia, turned to a remote training program to overcome these issues.
With the Levio learning and development platform, PSI created Sekolah Kader PSI to train its members since 2020. They used Levio’s content authoring tool (CAT) to convert their learning materials for the app, allowing the members to learn bite-size knowledge from their smartphones.
The training program, Sekolah Kader PSI, split the members into three different categories; dasar (new recruits), madya (mid-level), and paripurna (senior). The program was accessible throughout Indonesia. Users were free to do the courses at their own pace. Trainees who joined the first batch of Sekolah Kader PSI could also continue their progress in the second batch.
The Impact of Sekolah Kader PSI
The second batch of Sekolah Kader PSI ran from January 2021 to March 2021, with a 27% increase in participation compared to the first batch. Despite having no external reward for finishing the course, the gamification in the Levio platform has been proven to motivate users. Using badges and leaderboards, Levio incited trainees’ competitive nature to become the best in their category.

In total, the program has an 88% completion rate from 1107 users, with 5 times of learning repetition on average. The program was accessible throughout Indonesia, even in the less developed region such as Eastern Indonesia. Joining the program is proven to help users from the less developed area to be more tech-savvy and tech-literate. PSI also found the use of Levio to be more cost-effective for both organizers and participants. It also streamlined the progress report and documentation process. Thanks to these factors, PSI is planning to hold the third batch of Sekolah Kader in 2022.
